Strong Offense Catapults BGees through Back That Pass Up

SASKATOON (WOMENS) It was a beautiful Thursday night at the Whitecap training facility as the BGees and Back That Pass Up went to battle in front of a capacity crowd. Prior to the match-up, both teams lost their opening bout and were looking to get in the win column.

The BGees offense started off strong which helped one of the longest franchises in Women's AFFL take a commanding 26-12 lead into the half. Center Michelle Duchene, AKA "Mrs. Consistent", was big part of the dominant first half. She was able to accumulate 5 receptions for 49 yards, propelling some excellent field position for her squad. Duchene was also able to save a late first half drive by Back That Pass Up with a interception.

"I really have to give the credit to our quarterback Janelle Ginter and receiver Courtney Sled. They really seem to be clicking. I will collect the yards that I can to put them in a place to finish the drives. That's what football is right? A selfless team game", commented Duchene after Thursday night's win.

"She is amazing. People don't realize that Michelle (Duchene) touches the football more than anyone else on our team. She has to get the ball back to our quarterback on each snap. If she doesn't do that, then none of us can make a play on the ball. I was very fortunate to get the ball in some great open space so I could make a play. I saw the endzone and I just wanted to do whatever I could to get there", said Sled.

Courtney Sled finished the night with the most impressive stat line as she was able to accumulate 8 receptions for 180 yards with an astonishing 4 touchdowns in which two came at pinnacle times in the second half.

"We give the girls from Back That Pass Up credit. We came out strong in the second half, but they pushed us and matched all of our drives. We'd score, then they would score, we'd score, then they'd score again" added BGees Defensive standout Kelly Gibson.

The high flying offense of the BGees outlasted the Back That Pass Up defense and the BGees would add insult to injury with a late touchdown to clinch this game.
