Blue Crush has been the most dominant team the Saskatoon AFFL has ever seen. Built with former Valkyries, Rush standouts, and savvy veterans, it is difficult to not pick them to win every game. However, on Wednesday night they took their dominance to a whole new level, shutting out back-to-back opponents en route to a double-header sweep.
Quarterback, Alex Eyolfson, threw for a combined total of 342 yards and 6 touchodowns throughout the two games. Meanwhile on the defensive end, the girls combined for 5 interceptions and 2 sacks. They suffocated their opponents, only giving up a total of 27 completions for 279.
The term "bend, but don't break" came into play. As Blue Crush kept their two opponents out of the end zone, regardless of first downs. Olivia Woo and Olivia Lafrance picked up 8 tackles each between the two games, smothering the pass-catchers.
Blake Geier fueled the team on both sides of the ball. Tallying up 9 tackles, 2 interceptions, 2 sacks, 218 receiving yards, and 5 touchdowns. This is by far the most outlandish stat line the league has seen.
Blue Crush advanced to 6-0 on the year, and grow their 2019 win streak to 20 in a row. They will look to continue their dominance into week 6, when they take on the #5 Wolfpack (0-5).
